Her Story

Why She Tutors

Growing up, both of Marita's parents worked hard to provide for their family and did not always have time to sit with her after school to help with homework or explain lessons she did not understand. She often relied on older siblings and other family members for support.

These experiences helped her understand how valuable it is for a student to have someone patient, encouraging, and willing to explain things in a way that makes sense.

When Marita moved from Mexico and started high school, she faced another challenge. Although she understood and spoke English, she often struggled to express herself. Her English teacher, Mrs. Fonseca, supported her throughout all four years of high school and helped her build confidence. That experience showed Marita how much one caring educator can influence a student.

Marita later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics for Grades 4–8. Math was also a subject she personally worked hard to understand. The teachers and professors who helped her most were patient, explained concepts in different ways, and continued encouraging her until she understood.

Those experiences shaped the kind of tutor she strives to be today.
